We Are History Installation view, Beaconsfield, June 2014

The backdrop painting in this diorama work was over 9 metres by 7 metres. The use of forced perspective and cut out forms revisited earlier work in the context of this particular gallery's location, close to the original Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens in London. The title was chosen because of its implicit ambiguities: who (or what) is speaking, and in what context?

The exhibition was reviewed by the painter Dan Hays in the Journal of Contemporary Painting, Vol 1 Number 2, March 2015; The Kennington Runoff and by Mark Sempill in The Up Coming
